The frying plates in thick, cast aluminum have a non-stick coating that makes the waffles not stick and the iron easy to clean. The waffle iron heats up quickly, about 7 minutes, and then bakes the waffles in about 2 minutes. The iron can be stored upright for minimal storage in the kitchen cabinet.
